Tole or Toleware is a genre of painted or lacquered tin goods made popular throughout Europe and North America during the 18th century. The English term tole is taken directly from the French term tôle, which translates as sheet metal.
This is a beautiful example of a French Toleware box featuring a beautiful music inspired design.
Measurement: 6 ¾” Side to side, 4 ½” Top to bottom, 2” Thick
Condition: Some scuffing inside the box, tape on the underside of the lid, normal wear for it’s age on the outside.
